Mission
As a standing committee of WFEO, the CIC should take on the following
responsibilities for fulfilling the tasks allocated by WFEO in accordance with the
WSIS/WSSD Solutions and the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals.
(a) Making efforts to spread the knowledge concerning ICT within, and outside, WFEO so that more and more people, engineers in particular, understand what ICT is and why and how ICT can help in transferring the industrial/agricultural societies into information society.
(b) Making efforts to closely work together with all possible sectors of the society worldwide for promoting the utilization of ICT as advanced and efficient tool to improve the quality and efficiency of their works, raising the world economy and people’s living standards.
(c) Using Internet, an integrative embodiment of ICT, to distribute the knowledge of ICT, to share the successful progresses for demonstration of how ICT-based Internet can assist people in education, poverty eradication, disaster prevention and mitigation, healthcare, and so on.
(d) Using Internet, an integrative embodiment of ICT, to promote data-information-knowledge sharing among developed and developing nations so that the gap between advanced countries and countries in the third world can gradually be narrowed.
(e) Making contributions to the Internet governance led by IGF, a global platform set up by the United Nations in 2006, so that the Internet can be more trustable, more securable, more peaceful, and more constructive to human beings
